Longtime readers will know that I am not reticent in the slightest about declaring my affinity with and affection for a large swath of the music from the 1960s, especially music that promoted kindness, compassion, altruism, love, and peace. Cases in point: Peter Yarrow, Michael Pinder, the Beatles.
Fifty-six years ago today (August 15, 1969), the iconic Woodstock Music and Art Fair began – a defining cultural moment that encapsulated some of the most noble ideals of the era and featured some legendary musical performances. And so, I am affectionately recalling a massive gathering that was notably peaceful and infused with spontaneous outpourings of pure joy.
Below is a poster I created, including a poem I wrote, commemorating the true spirit of Woodstock. After all, isn’t the underlying message of all religions the same: Peace and Love?
